Backlink overlap was tested and rejected, because two sites both linked from Forbes are not competitors. How often does it refresh?

Once a month, on its own schedule, plus a Re-analyze button whenever you want it. A domain that was analyzed in the last 7 days is reused rather than re-fetched: Domain Authority and backlink indexes do not move inside a week, so a manual re-run of fresh data costs nothing and returns instantly. You do not set the cadence; Verand owns the rhythm and you get Run now.

How many competitors can I track?

5 per site on Starter, 10 on Growth, 20 on Professional, 40 on Agency, and unlimited on Managed. The cap is on the tracked toggle, not on the list: discovered competitors you have not switched on stay there, unlimited, for free. The limit is enforced in the worker that spends the money as well as in the dashboard, so a stale list or a plan change cannot bill past it.

Where do the numbers come from?

Domain Authority is Moz's, a 0 to 100 comparative estimate of how likely a domain is to rank. Referring domains, backlinks, spam score and link velocity come from a commercial backlink index; organic keywords, estimated traffic and traffic value from a search-data provider. Each source is optional: if one is not configured, those columns read as blank rather than guessing.

What counts as a gap keyword?

A query the competitor ranks in the top 10 for, where you are either absent from their ranking set or sitting below position 20. Navigational queries and the competitor's own brand terms are removed first, since ranking for someone else's name is not a content gap. Up to 25 per competitor per run, in search-volume order.

Does it change anything on my site?

No. The competitor monitor only reads. It writes to your dashboard and nowhere else, and no routine in Verand publishes anything: a gap keyword becomes a brief, a brief becomes a draft, and a person approves the draft.

Is it included in my plan?

Yes, on every plan including Starter. Plans differ by how many competitors you track per site, how many sites you have and how much you publish, never by which routines you get. There are no overage charges: you stop at your cap and decide whether to move up.
