1 Sign in

A read-only scope, and one you can revoke.

Verand asks Google for the read-only Search Console scope. That is the whole permission. It cannot submit a sitemap, request indexing, or change a single setting in your property, because the access it holds does not allow it.

You stay signed in through a refresh token, so the daily sync works without you. Revoke it in your Google account and it stops that moment.
Properties you only have unverified access to are filtered out, because they would fail on every call.
It works with a domain property or a URL-prefix one. Verand tries the domain property first, then your exact host, then the www version.
It writes nothing, in either direction. Your Search Console looks the same after connecting as it did before.

2 What it reads

Four numbers, per query and per page.

Clicks, impressions, average position and the query itself, for the last 28 days. Verand asks for them broken down by query and by page together, which is the pairing that makes the rest of the product possible: not just what you rank for, but which page of yours does the ranking.

The 28-day window moves with you, so the numbers you act on are this month, not since you signed up.
It also keeps one row a day for your whole property, which is how the trend lines have anything to draw.
Two API calls and one update. It is cheap enough to run daily and idempotent, so a re-run costs nothing and changes nothing.
It does not sample. Every ranking page it can see is read.

3 Where it shows up

One row per page, with the market attached.

Every page in the Page Tracker carries its own clicks, impressions and average position beside everything Verand knows about the page itself. That is the difference between a content tool guessing what matters and one reading what already happens.

Sort by impressions with no clicks and you are looking at the pages that rank but do not get chosen.
It writes only to pages the crawl has already found. With an empty page store the sync is a no-op rather than a pile of orphan rows.
Positions 11 to 20 become the striking-distance list, which is the cheapest work on the site.

4 What it drives

Search Console is what turns "here are some pages" into "here are the four worth an hour this week". Every ranked recommendation in Verand traces back to something you actually rank for.

Opportunities: striking distance, pages with impressions and a low click rate, and queries a page nearly answers.
Decay: pages that used to earn clicks and no longer do, which is invisible without the history.

Can Verand change anything in my Search Console?

No. The scope it asks for is read only, so submitting sitemaps, requesting indexing and editing settings are not things it can do, rather than things it chooses not to.

Which property will it use?

Verand suggests one and you confirm it. It tries your domain property first, then the exact host, then the www version, and if you only have one it uses that. Properties you cannot verify are left out.

What if I connect before my first crawl finishes?

Nothing breaks. The sync writes only onto pages Verand already knows about, so it does nothing that first time and fills in on the next run.

How current are the numbers?

The window is the last 28 days, refreshed daily, plus immediately when you connect and when you pick a property. Search Console itself runs a couple of days behind, and Verand cannot get ahead of that.
