Gemini Visibility Tracker
for regulated firms.

Verand asks Gemini the questions your buyers ask, every day, and records whether it named you and which sites it cited instead. Five more assistants run alongside it, and misses count toward the rate. The content that moves it is written from your credentials and cannot publish until it clears the compliance gate.

One question, six assistants, two scans. The rows under a question are the answers themselves. Gemini answered this one and did not name the firm, so the row stores a miss, nine cited sources and no position. A miss is a row, which is why the rate can fall.

Definition

What is a Gemini visibility tracker?

A Gemini visibility tracker asks Google Gemini a fixed set of questions on a schedule and records what came back: whether your brand was named, how early, whether your site was cited as a source, which competitors were named beside you, and how the answer talked about you. It is brand monitoring for a surface that has no rankings page to check, so the tracker has to keep the answers themselves.

Verand's version reads the consumer Gemini answer, once a day for every prompt in your set, and stores each answer as one row whether or not you are in it. Two numbers roll the rows up, and both are counted from the answers rather than estimated. Each has its own page.

Which Gemini this page covers

Google ships its model on more than one surface, and they do not answer alike. This page covers the assistant itself, the answer you get at gemini.google.com or in the Gemini app. Google's two search surfaces are measured separately and have their own pages: the AI Overviews tracker for the block above the blue links, and the AI Mode tracker for the conversational tab. Same prompt set, three different rows, because they are three different answers and a firm can be named in one and missing from the next.

Two Gemini surfaces are deliberately not measured. Gemini inside Google Workspace and Gemini on an Android device answer from a signed-in account and the document in front of the person asking, so any number put against them would be one person's inbox rather than your market. Verand's checks run outside an account, as a searcher in the country set for that site, which is why the answer recorded is the one a stranger gets.

How Gemini visibility tracking works.

It needs nothing installed on your site. You confirm the brand Gemini should be looking for and the questions it should be asked, and from then on every check hands back the same four facts. Onboarding does most of it: the brand is read from your domain and the first prompt set is generated from your Brand Hub, so the first scan runs before you have typed anything.

Start tracking Gemini

The first scan runs during onboarding, across all six assistants, before you reach the paywall. Your plan then sets how many of the six stay on the dashboard. Gemini is on every plan, including Starter.

Northgate Tax Advisory is an example CPA firm. The plans, cadences and prompt rules above are the shipped product's.

What comes back from every check
  1. Mentioned, or not. The answer either contains your brand or it does not. One boolean, stored either way, and the basis of every rate on this page.
  2. Position. First firm named and seventh firm named are not the same result. The check records the order of your first mention among the brands in the answer.
  3. Cited, and by which sources. A Gemini answer carries its own list of the pages it drew on, and links more of them inside the text. The check takes both, resolves every one to a domain, drops the duplicates and labels what is left owned, competitor, editorial or user-generated.
  4. Every other brand in the answer. Your tracked competitors are scored from the same response, so their standing costs nothing extra.

Those four are the columns in the answers table at the top of this page. Everything on the dashboard is arithmetic over them, plus one judged field, sentiment, run separately over the answers that named you.

Regulated firms

Why Gemini visibility is different for regulated firms.

Every tracker in this category measures whether you were named. For a firm with a licence, a regulator and a duty of care, two further questions matter more, and none of the Gemini trackers we reviewed asks either of them.

When Gemini gets your credentials, fees or services wrong

A wrong answer about a consumer brand is a lost sale. A wrong answer about a regulated firm is a claim you did not make, circulating under your name: a minimum investment you do not offer, a designation you do not hold, a fee you no longer charge. Verand extracts the checkable claims Gemini makes about you from the answers that named you, attributes each to the assistant that said it, and asks you to mark it correct or incorrect. An incorrect claim takes your correction and is watched until it stops appearing, and the same correction becomes a brand fact the generator writes from, so your own pages stop feeding the error.

For a registered investment adviser that matters twice. The SEC Marketing Rule governs what your marketing may say, and Verand's RIA compliance pack encodes it, so the page you publish to correct the record is checked against the same rule before it can go live. Broker-dealer content answers to a different regime and is not covered by that pack.

Your Google footprint becomes your Gemini footprint

In a regulated field the sources an answer is built from are mostly not yours: a bar association directory, a state licensing board, BrokerCheck, SEC.gov, review sites and the trade press. Google already holds a structured record of your firm alongside those, in the Business Profile you claim and in the structured data on your own pages. No tracker can see inside a model's retrieval and say which of them it used, and this page will not pretend otherwise. What is visible is the source list on each answer.

So Verand audits the entity as well as the content. Eight weighted checks read how your name, address and phone are stated across the site and whether they agree; the LocalBusiness block is generated for you from what the crawl already found; your Business Profile is compared against what your own site says; and directory citations put the same details on the aggregators the rest of the web copies from. The listings you control are the part of this you can actually fix.

Compliance packs are AI-researched and operator-reviewed, and are not legal advice. The gate blocks outright what a rule forbids, and asks a named person for a written, logged reason on the claims it cannot judge alone.

Sources

What the answers
were built from.

Gemini hands back the pages it drew on, and links more of them inside the answer. Verand keeps every one, resolves it to a domain and types it in code: yours, a tracked competitor’s, one of a fixed list of community platforms, or editorial by default. Sized by how often each was quoted, the map is usually the first uncomfortable thing a firm sees. The biggest block on this account is google.com and the next is youtube.com, with the regulated-field sources in the same picture: sec.gov, investor.gov, finra.org. Your own domain is in there too, and it is usually small.

Gemini rank tracker

A position in the answer,
not on a page.

A generated answer has no blue links to count, so there is no rank in the search sense. Verand reads the answer text, finds the first mention of every brand it tracks and numbers them in the order they appear. Named before anyone else and you are #1. Average position is the mean across the answers that named you, so #1.5 says you usually open the answer or sit one name behind. Your rivals are scored from the same responses, which is why a gap here is a real difference rather than two tools measured differently.

The gap

The pages it quotes
instead of yours.

Remove your own domain from that map and what is left is the citation gap, ranked by how often each source was quoted, each carrying the action that fits it. A competitor’s guide says publish a stronger owned equivalent. An industry page says earn a mention or match its depth. This is where a tracker stops being a dashboard: the gap becomes a brief, the draft comes back with your own experience facts woven through it, and it clears the compliance gate before anyone can publish it.

Daily

Checked every day,
one point per scan.

Gemini is asked daily, along with ChatGPT and both of Google’s AI answers. Perplexity and Claude run weekly, because collecting one of their answers costs materially more. The cadence belongs to the engine, not to your plan, and it is not a setting. Each scan contributes one point, being the share of that scan’s answers that named you, plotted on the day it ran with your tracked rivals on the same axis. Run the pointer along it and every brand’s reading for that day comes back. Brand monitoring in Gemini is a line, not a reading: the answers move on their own, and only the trend separates a bad Tuesday from a real decline.

Rankings

Can you track rankings in Gemini?

Not the way you track them on Google, and any Gemini rank tracker that shows you a stable position 3 is computing something it is not telling you about. A Google result for a query is close to stable: ask two people to search the same phrase in the same city on the same day and they see broadly the same ten links, which is why rank tracking works at all. Gemini is not built that way. The same question asked twice in an hour can return different firms in a different order, because the model samples its own output and because the pages it retrieves change underneath it.

The honest unit above that position is a rate. Every prompt in your set is asked once a day, every day, one ask per prompt per assistant per scan, and the dashboard reports the share of answers that named you, the share that cited you, and how both moved. The trend is one point per scan day over a 30-day window by default. One answer is a reading. Thirty days of them is a signal you can act on.

The number is also only as good as the questions behind it. A prompt set built from the topics you actually sell into will move when your content moves. A prompt set of branded questions will sit at 100 percent and tell you nothing, which is the reason for the one-in-five ceiling on branded prompts.

Which Gemini is being asked, and from where. Verand reads the consumer answer rather than a developer model pinned to a version number, so what is recorded follows the product your buyers use as Google changes it. It is asked in the country and language set for that site, from outside any signed-in account. City-level targeting exists in Verand but applies to Google's two search surfaces only, because a local SERP is built from a place in a way a chat answer is not. For a practice that serves one metro, that is a real limit and worth knowing before you read the number.

One more limit, stated plainly. An answer that comes back without you in it is a stored row with mentioned set to false, which is why the Gemini trend shows the scan where you dropped out. That is different from an answer that never existed: Google renders no AI Overview for some queries, there is no brand to find in an answer that is not there, and Verand records nothing for those, so the AI Overviews check count runs below the prompt count on purpose. Gemini is the ordinary case rather than the exception here, because the assistant answers whatever it is asked. A failed ask is a third thing again, kept separately with the provider's own error message.

Two measurements

A Google ranking and a Gemini answer are not the same number.

Gemini is built by the company that runs the search engine, which is exactly why the two get confused. They are measured differently, they move for different reasons, and Verand runs both in one account so you can see when they disagree.

What you are readingA Google rankingA Gemini answer
The unitA position in a list of links.A named mention inside one written answer. There is no list, so the only order is the order the brands appear in the text. Being named and being cited are separate facts, and they come apart constantly.
StabilityTwo people searching the same phrase in the same city on the same day see broadly the same ten links. The same question asked twice can return different firms in a different order, so one reading is an anecdote and a 30-day rate is the signal.
Where it is asked fromEvery check runs from a place, down to the city.Country and language, set per site, from outside any account. City targeting applies to Google's two search surfaces, not to the assistant.
Your competitorsWhoever holds the other nine positions.Whoever the answer named beside you, scored from the same response, which makes share of voice a count rather than an estimate.
How oftenDaily, metered by checks rather than by phrases.Daily, fixed by the engine. Only Perplexity and Claude run weekly, and no plan changes that.
What moves itPages, links and technical health.Pages worth quoting, and the listings the answers already trust. Both end at a draft, and every draft goes through the gate.

Ranking well on Google and going unnamed in Gemini is common, and so is the reverse. That is the whole reason for the second measurement, and it is why daily rank tracking sits in the same account as the AI answers rather than in another tool.

The arithmetic

Visibility Rate and Share of Voice, worked through.

Two numbers, both counted from the answers that came back. Here is each one done by hand, because a metric you cannot reproduce on paper is a metric you have to take on trust.

Visibility Rate. Say your plan gives you 50 prompts and Gemini answered all 50 in today's scan, naming your brand in 9. The rate is 9 divided by 50, so 18 percent. The denominator is every answer that came back, not every answer that mentioned somebody, which is the most common way this number gets quietly inflated. Position rides alongside it: first brand named scores 1.0 and each place below takes 0.15 off, with a floor, so opening the answer is worth more than being the seventh name in it.

Share of Voice. Same scan, different question: of every brand mention Gemini made across those 50 answers, how many were yours. If the answers named 120 brands and 18 were you, your share is 15 percent, and each rival's is counted the same way out of the same 120. Nothing is weighted and no model judges it, which is why the gap between you and the firm above you is a real difference rather than two tools disagreeing.

Both are reported per assistant and across all of them, so a Gemini rate of 18 percent against a ChatGPT rate of 30 percent is a finding rather than a rounding error, and the scan behind each is on the dashboard as rows you can open.

Improvement

How to rank in Gemini.

There is no position to hold, so ranking in Gemini means being named early and cited often across the questions that matter. The tracker tells you where to start. The work is pages, and for a local practice it is also listings.

01Citations

Start from the citations, not the mentions

A citation is the thing you can go and earn, which is why the worklist starts there rather than with the mentions. Work down the citation gap in the order the answers quoted each source, and take the first item that sits in a subject you actually sell into. Mentions tend to follow the pages that earn citations rather than lead them.

02Your own facts

Answer the question, with your own facts

An answer built from live web results rewards pages that answer the exact question a buyer asked and carry something the model cannot get elsewhere: your credentials, your real outcomes, your stated opinions. Verand drafts from your knowledge base for that reason, and the topics table shows which subjects Gemini handles without you.

This is the practical content of what the SEO trade calls GEO or AEO: answer-shaped pages, cited claims, an author it can identify. The name is new. The work is not.

03The entity

Then fix what Google already holds about you

The part of this that is specific to Gemini is the entity work, because your Business Profile, your licensing board listing and your own structured data are records Google already keeps. Verand audits all three, generates the LocalBusiness block and can put the same name, address and phone on the directories. Then read the trend in weeks: mentions move before citations do, and nothing about earning a citation is fast.

The point of the number

Every draft passes a compliance gate before it publishes.

A tracker on its own tells you that Gemini named a competitor instead of you, and then stops. Moving the number means publishing a page worth citing, and other trackers write content too. What none of the Gemini trackers we reviewed mention anywhere is compliance review, and for a regulated firm that is the difference between a fix and a new problem.

Written. Every draft comes out of your knowledge base: your credentials, your real client outcomes and your strong opinions, in your own words. That is what gives an answer a reason to cite you rather than a directory.

Found. Daily Google rank tracking and six AI assistants read for mentions, citations, sentiment and share of voice, against the same pages, in one account. Google rank tracking and Gemini tracking are different jobs, and this is one place both run.

Tracked and gated. Then the compliance gate runs before anything can publish: 46 deterministic checks and your industry's rulebook, hard failures that block outright, review-tier claims that need a written, logged reason from a named person, and nothing live until someone at your firm presses publish.

Doctors Investing in Real Estate: A Physician's Guide to Passive Multifamily

Physicians are the most common first-time limited partners we talk to. High income, no time, and a tax bill that grows every year make a passive stake in an apartment community attractive. It is also where the worst marketing in this industry is aimed, so this guide starts with what the numbers can and cannot promise.

Why syndications appeal to physicians

A syndication lets you own a share of a 100-plus-unit property without managing it. The sponsor finds the deal, raises the equity, runs the business plan and reports to you. Since 2019 we have sponsored over $150M of Class B and C value-add multifamily across Georgia and Texas on exactly that model, and we underwrite 100 or more deals to close one.

What a preferred return actually is

Preferred equity in a stabilized deal pays a guaranteed annual return of 8% before the sponsor takes a share of profits. The rest of the waterfall, the split above the preference, is where the sponsor is paid for performance, and it is the part a physician investor should read twice.

Where the tax advantages come from

Depreciation on the building passes through to limited partners on a K-1, which is why a year with positive cash flow can still show a paper loss. That is a timing benefit, not a permanent one: recapture applies when the property sells.

Images, citations, the sources list, and the compliance disclaimer are locked and preserved. Edit the prose freely, then Save to re-validate.

The gate, on a real draft. This article scores 96 and still cannot publish. One sentence promises a guaranteed annual return, which the YMYL pack blocks outright: a hard failure carries no override, so nobody at your firm and nobody at Verand can wave it through. What the screen shows is the only thing that can happen next. A person rewrites the sentence, the article re-validates, and the readout goes from Blocked to Pass. The compliance packs are AI-researched and operator-reviewed, and are not legal advice.

Then track whether Gemini's answers change

Publishing is the middle of the loop, not the end of it. The page goes live, the daily scans keep running, and the rows accumulate against the same questions that showed the gap. A citation that gets picked up shows as a source on an answer before it shows as a mention in one. If nothing moves in a month, that is also a reading, and it sends you back to the gap rather than to a guess.

The other five

One of six AI assistants Verand tracks.

Nothing on this page is specific to Gemini except the favicon, the surface and the cadence. The same prompt set, the same four facts and the same arithmetic run against five more assistants.

Gemini
Daily

Read from the consumer product, so it is the answer a buyer gets. An empty read falls back to a second path automatically and still reports as Gemini.

ChatGPT
Daily

Also read from the consumer product, with web search on, on the same daily cadence as Gemini.

Google AI Overviews
Daily

The block above the blue links. It does not render for every query, and Verand records absence as absence rather than as a zero.

Google AI Mode
Daily

Google's conversational search tab. It always returns an answer, so its check count tracks your prompt count.

Perplexity
Weekly

No consumer read exists, so it is asked directly, which costs materially more. It also returns the sub-queries it ran, which feed Query Fanout.

Claude
Weekly

Asked directly as well, and the most expensive read in the set, which is the whole reason cadence is set per assistant rather than sold as a plan tier.

Engine coverage is where the plans differ. Starter reads three, Gemini among them, Growth five, Professional and above all six. Onboarding asks all six whatever plan you pick.

The other five trackers: ChatGPT Google AI Overviews Google AI Mode Perplexity Claude

How it works

Asked, read, counted.

Four steps. Only one of them asks a model for a judgement, and it is the smallest one. Everything else is string matching against your brand, your domain and your tracked rivals, which is why two people reading the same scan get the same numbers.

Questions

What people ask before the first scan.

Eight answers with numbers in them, including the ones that are limits rather than features.

What is a Gemini visibility tracker?

A tool that asks Google Gemini a fixed set of buyer questions on a schedule and records the answers: whether your brand was named, where, whether your site was cited, which rivals were named beside you and how you were described. Verand asks every prompt once a day, stores every answer including the misses, and rolls them into Visibility Rate and Share of Voice. It reads the consumer answer, as a searcher in your country and outside any signed-in account, and runs the same prompt set against five more assistants.

How do I track brand mentions in Gemini?

Ask unbranded questions. A question that names you almost always returns an answer that names you, so the useful test is the one a buyer asks before they know you exist. Verand generates 25, 50, 100, 200 or 400 such questions from your Brand Hub depending on plan, as one pool shared across every site on the account rather than a separate ration per site, caps branded prompts at one in five, asks each once a day, and stores every answer so a miss counts against the rate instead of vanishing. Onboarding runs the first scan across all six assistants before the paywall.

Does Gemini cite its sources?

Usually, and in two places at once: a list of the pages the answer drew on, and links written into the answer text itself. Verand takes both, resolves each to a domain, drops the duplicates and labels what is left owned, competitor, editorial or user-generated, then counts how often each domain was quoted across every answer in the window. Being cited and being named are separate booleans on every row, because they come apart constantly: a firm gets named with no link to it, and gets cited in an answer that never says its name.

Is Gemini visibility the same as ranking on Google?

No, and the fact that Google makes both is what causes the confusion. A Google ranking is a position in a list that is broadly the same for everyone who searches. A Gemini result is one generated answer that names a handful of firms and links a handful of sources, and it can differ between two runs of the same question. Ranking well on Google and going unnamed in Gemini is common, which is the whole reason the second measurement exists. Verand tracks both in the same account, daily Google rank tracking beside the AI answers, because they move for different reasons.

Is Gemini the same as Google AI Overviews?

They are different surfaces and Verand measures them separately. This page is the assistant: the answer you get at gemini.google.com or in the Gemini app. AI Overviews is the summary block above the blue links on a search results page, and AI Mode is Google's conversational search tab. Each gets its own row on every prompt, every day, so a firm can be named in the assistant and missing from the overview on the same question. One difference is worth knowing: Google renders no overview at all for some queries, so the AI Overviews check count legitimately runs below your prompt count, while the assistant answers whatever it is asked.

How often should you check your Gemini visibility?

Daily, and Verand does not make it a setting. Cadence is fixed per assistant by what a check costs: Gemini, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are read every day; Perplexity and Claude are added weekly, on Mondays, because asking either costs materially more. It is not a plan feature and not a customer toggle. You can run a scan by hand whenever you want a fresh read, and that asks every assistant your plan covers at once.

How do I get my firm cited by Gemini?

Start with the sources list, because a citation is the thing you can go and earn: it tells you which domains the answers were built from, and the topics table tells you which of your subjects Gemini handles without you. Between them you get a page to write or a page to fix. Write it to answer the exact question, from your own credentials and outcomes, and publish it through the compliance gate. Then fix the records Google already holds about you: your Business Profile, your licensing board listing, the structured data on your own pages. Read the trend in weeks after that. Mentions move before citations do.

What can I do if Gemini says something wrong about my firm?

Mark it. Verand extracts the checkable claims Gemini makes about your firm from the answers that named you, each attributed to the assistant that said it, and you mark each one correct or incorrect. An incorrect claim takes your correction, is watched until it stops appearing, and becomes a brand fact your future drafts are written from. You cannot edit Gemini, and nothing here pretends to. What you can do is publish the correct answer through the gate, get the listings and profiles right, and watch whether the next scan picks it up.
