Willowdale's 269 crawled pages come out as 8 pillars, 17 silos, 213 filed articles and 8 standalones. The clustering is arithmetic on the embeddings and the link graph the crawl already stored; no model votes on your structure.

Every node is either covered by a real page or drawn as a gap. Twenty-two Willowdale articles cover financing and none of them is the hub, so the map proposes a pillar page targeting multifamily loans rather than pretending one exists. That is the only kind of gap this map invents: it never proposes topics you have not written about.

Does it invent topics I have not covered?

No. This is a diagnostic map of the site you already have: it clusters your published pages and nothing else. The one thing it will draw that has no page behind it is a pillar, when a cluster of your own articles has no page broad enough to head it. Finding subjects you have never written about is a different job, and it lives in Topic Research and in Opportunities, where competitor gaps are scored.

Is a model deciding my structure?

No. The clustering is deterministic: cosine similarity over the page embeddings the crawl already stored, farthest-first hub selection so each major theme gets one hub, then the internal-link graph to pick which page a cluster actually links up to. One model call does the naming, gives each pillar a target keyword, and judges whether an existing page is broad enough to be the hub. Run it twice on unchanged content and you get the same tree.

How many pillars will I get?

Roughly one per 26 pages, clamped between six and ten, and then pruned: a hub that attracts fewer than two articles is not a pillar, so it is dissolved back into standalone pages. Willowdale's 269 pages produce eight. You can add your own pillar page on top of that, and the guidance in the tab argues for eight to twelve strong pillars over twenty thin ones.

What happens to my edits when the map rebuilds?

They survive. Edits are keyed to the page, not to the generated node, so Re-scan map re-derives the whole tree from your current content and then re-applies your renames, your chosen pillar pages, your moves and your standalones on top. Verify links is the other button: it re-checks link health against the latest crawl and never touches your structure.

Does Verand add the internal links for me?

No. The map tells you which articles do not link up to their pillar page or their silo head, and writing the link stays with you. Detection reads the link graph stored by the last crawl, so a link you add today shows as linked after the next crawl; the per-article toggle is there to mark it done in the meantime, and your toggle always wins over the detected value.

When does it run, and which plan includes it?

Every plan, Starter upward. It builds once off your first crawl, re-scans on the second of each month, and Re-scan map and Verify links are both on the tab whenever you want them. A brief from Article Briefs lands on the map as a planned node the moment it exists, before a word is drafted, and anything the match is not confident about lands in an Unplaced tray with one recommendation rather than being filed somewhere wrong.
