What does the sweep actually look for?

Every occurrence of last year's four-digit number in the title, H1, meta description and body text of every published page, up to 25 per page. Auto-generated tables of contents and in-page jump links are stripped first: they exist in the rendered page but not in the post you would edit, so their years are not fixable.

Will it ever roll a statistic?

No. A year attached to a rate, limit, threshold or amount, a year that belongs to a cited report's title, and a year that pins a rule or definition are all barred from “safe to update”. Dates and publish dates never get that far either: those are settled deterministically before anything is judged.

What happens when it cannot decide?

The reference lands in “Needs your call” and the callout states how many could not be auto-judged on that run. The degradation is one-directional by design: a missing key, an API error or an unparseable answer can only ever produce a human decision, never a “safe to update”.

Does anything change on my site by itself?

No. The sweep writes a worklist to the run and stops. Nothing moves until you open it, tick specific references and press Apply. On a site with no CMS or repo connected the Apply button does not render at all, and the modal says so in as many words: Verand never edits your site.

How does the apply avoid touching the wrong year?

Each selected reference carries the context captured at scan time. Verand enumerates every live occurrence of the old year, matches your selection to the best-anchored unclaimed one, and requires a real context match before it writes anything. If nothing anchors it applies nothing and tells you the page changed since the scan. On a git site the rewritten file is committed to the base branch; an identical tree produces no commit, and a protected branch is reported rather than forced.

When does it run, and on which plan?

Annually, on every plan including Starter, and on demand from Scheduled Tasks whenever you want it. The Scheduled Tasks tab is read-only: Verand owns the rhythm, and you get Run now and the run history. A run costs about a cent: the deterministic tier is free and the judged tier is one batched Haiku call.
