How often does the sweep run?

Every Monday at 09:00 UTC, on every plan including Starter. You can also start one from the routine's menu on Scheduled Tasks: on-demand runs are capped at ten per billing period on Starter, thirty on Growth, a hundred on Professional and three hundred on Agency, with ten minutes between runs of the same routine.

Which links does it check?

Every anchor link on every published page, internal and external. Not preconnect or stylesheet tags, not in-page fragment anchors, and not mailto, tel or javascript targets. Each link is resolved against the page it sits on, so relative paths and protocol-relative URLs are checked properly. The page list comes from the crawl, and falls back to your sitemap when the site has not been crawled yet.

What counts as broken?

A 404, a 410, any other 4xx or 5xx, or a connection that fails outright. The check is a HEAD request first, then a GET when the server answers 405, 501 or 403, because plenty of CDNs and WordPress hosts refuse HEAD. Redirects are followed, so a 301 that lands on a live page is not a broken link.

What about sites that just block bots?

They are reported as unverified, and unverified never counts as broken. A 401, 403, 429 or LinkedIn's 999 means we could not check, not that the link is dead. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, TikTok and YouTube are never given a verdict from a status code at all, so your own social profiles are never called broken.

Does Verand fix the links for me?

No. The row names the page, the anchor text and the destination, and stops there. Repointing a dead source is a judgment call about whether it moved, was replaced, or should go, and that call is yours. There is no AI draft on this check and nothing is written to your site.

What does a broken link cost the page?

Roughly three points off that page's SEO score per dead outbound link, capped at fifteen, and about forty percent of that off Overall. The penalty is applied from the last crawl's own baseline, so repeated sweeps never compound it, and the next crawl resets it.
