Buyers learn, then compare,
then choose. Most brands
show up for one of the three.

Decision Journey splits every tracked answer into Learn, Consider and Decide, and gives you a mention rate for each. One blended number hides the stage where you are missing.

ONE RATE, THREE CONTESTS

Thirteen percent
was three different numbers.

Across 599 buyer-journey answers, Willowdale Equity is named in 78. That is 13%. Split by stage it reads 4.4% while buyers are learning, 45.3% while they are comparing and 14.2% once they are ready to act. The blended figure describes none of the three.

Every stage opens
onto its own evidence.

The drawer behind a stage carries what that stage means, the mention rate for every scan in the window, the sentiment split across scored mentions, and each prompt in the stage with its own rate and hit count. Nothing new is fetched to build it. These are answers you already collected, counted a different way.

What is Learn (TOFU)?

Users are exploring and learning about the category. Prompts are broad and educational, “how does X work”, “what is Y”. You rarely get named here yet, but authoritative content builds the familiarity that pays off further down the funnel.

WHERE THE STAGE COMES FROM

The stage belongs to
the question, not the answer.

Each prompt is tagged Learn, Consider or Decide as it is written, by the model that drafts your prompt set, and the tag is checked against those three values before it is stored. A scan never relabels anything. This month's Consider rate and last month's are counting the same questions, which is what makes the trend line mean something.

THE OTHER END OF THE FUNNEL

Absent at Decide
is a different job to absent at Learn.

Willowdale's Decide stage runs at 14.2% against ready-to-invest and where-do-I-start questions. Learn runs at 4.4% against what-to-look-for and how-does-it-work questions. Those are two different pieces of work, and a single visibility percentage would have told you to do neither.

What is Decide (BOFU)?

Users have decided to act and are looking for where and how to invest. Prompts include minimums, deal terms, and “who should I go with”. This is the highest-intent stage with direct revenue impact.

How it works

Four steps, and three of them already ran.

The funnel is a view over the scan you are already paying for, not a scan of its own.

Questions

What people ask about the three stages.

Who assigns a stage, when it is assigned, and what the funnel will not tell you.

Who decides which stage a prompt belongs to?

The model that writes your prompt set. It returns Learn, Consider or Decide with each question it drafts, and the value is checked against those three before anything is stored; a fourth answer is refused and the prompt lands in Consider. The database enforces the same three values. It is a judgement about buyer intent, not a rule about wording, and it does not always land where you would expect: on Willowdale's own set, “Find me the best multifamily real estate syndication companies in the southern U.S. for 2026.” is tagged Learn, while “Best multifamily real estate syndication firms for accredited passive investors in Texas and Georgia.” is tagged Consider.

Does the stage change when a scan runs?

No. The scan records whether each engine named you and moves on; it never looks at the stage and never rewrites it. The tag is written once, when the prompt is created, and the funnel joins to it at read time. That is deliberate: a stage that drifted between scans would make the per-scan trend inside each stage meaningless.

What happens to a prompt I typed myself?

It is scanned like any other prompt and it appears everywhere else on the tab, with its visibility, its average position and the rivals it turned up alongside. What it carries no trace of is a stage or a type, because only the generator writes those, so it sits outside the funnel and outside all three denominators. If nothing on your site has a stage, the card says so in plain words rather than drawing an empty funnel.

Does the funnel cost anything extra to run?

No. It runs no scan and calls no model. Every figure in the card and in the stage drawers is counted from the checks your visibility scan already stored, and recomputed on each page load, so the funnel has no schedule and no allowance of its own.

Do brand-name questions inflate the stage rates?

Not in the default view. “What is Willowdale Equity” trivially mentions Willowdale Equity, so the Unbranded toggle is on when the tab loads and prompts naming you are dropped from the funnel entirely. Separately, no more than 20% of a generated prompt set may name your brand at all, and that ceiling is enforced in code rather than asked for in the instructions.

Can I look at one stage for one engine, or one topic?

Yes. The three figures follow the tab's controls, so the date range, the Models dropdown and the Topics dropdown all narrow the funnel the same way they narrow everything else on the page. The Models list only ever offers the engines your plan includes, and a hand-edited URL cannot reach past it.

Decision Journey

Find the stage you are missing.

It sits on the Mentions and Citations tab, on every plan, and it is built from the scan you already have.
