Search engines do not take your word for where you are. They corroborate it: the more independent sources that agree on your exact name, address and phone, the more confidently Google treats your business as real and located where you say. Citations are how you produce that agreement on purpose instead of hoping for it.

Five data aggregators
The part that compounds. Aggregators are wholesalers of business data: you submit once, and they feed hundreds of downstream sites, apps and devices you could never reach individually.
Data Axle Feeds bank, GPS and directory-assistance databases across the US.
Foursquare Powers place data in Apple Maps, Uber, Samsung and X.
Neustar / TransUnion Underpins caller ID and business-verification systems.- GPS Network Reaches in-car navigation and connected-device maps.
YP Network Distributes to the Yellow Pages ecosystem and its syndication partners.
This is the half most per-citation quotes leave out, and the half that keeps paying off after the order is finished.
3
Corrections, not duplicates
This is where most citation building quietly goes wrong.
If a listing for you already exists with an old phone number, submitting a new one leaves two contradictory records and makes the problem worse. That is why the free check runs first: existing listings get corrected, duplicates get removed, and only genuinely missing listings get created.
4
A report of every listing
You get the live URL for each listing that goes up, so this is verifiable rather than a claim.
Submissions run over days to weeks. That is normal: directories review manually and some require confirmation, and anything promising 50 live listings tomorrow is either lying or creating throwaway pages.
